Cargo Handling

Gottwald Port Technology GmbH

Cargo Handling from Gottwald Port Technology GmbH - Innovation on the Waterways.

Cargo handling operations at ports or on waterways where there are few quays available or where the quay capacity is exhausted - this is where the HPK Harbour Pontoon Crane, developed by Gottwald in close co-operation with an American customer, comes into play.

Gottwald's first floating crane, a HPK 330 EG Harbour Pontoon Crane mounted on a pontoon supplied by the customer, was commissioned in December 2004 on the Mississippi in Convent, Louisiana, USA, less than 6 months after the contract was signed.

Here, the crane designed as a 4-rope grab crane transloads a variety of bulk cargo in hard continuous-duty handling from large sea-going vessels to small river barges. The HPK 330 EG achieves handling rates of up to 1,000 tonnes per hour.

Individual Production Based on HMK Know-How
Like the HSK Portal Harbour Crane, the HPK Harbour Pontoon Crane is also based on proven Mobile Harbour Crane technology from Gottwald. Above the slew ring, it also uses the same components, tried and tested thousands of times in the Mobile Harbour Crane series.

It is only the pontoon part which is customised according to the customer's wishes. Harbour Pontoon Cranes can, of course, also be designed in all available HMK versions.

A diesel-electric drive, the use of various lifting gear, high lifting capacities and cargo handling speeds, in addition to a service-friendly method of construction ensure a high degree of efficiency, cost effectiveness and many possible applications.

Independence in Cargo Handling
Thanks to it being autonomous of the landside cargo handling systems, having low specific investment costs and short delivery lead times, the HPK Harbour Pontoon Crane is the ideal crane when long approval procedures and construction times as well as high investment in site purchase and quay construction are to be avoided.
