The ExpressCube Dimensioning System a package cubing and reweighing solution proves valuable for National and Regional Couriers.

ExpressCube is a division of Global Sensor Systems Inc. a successful veteran in the sensor development, manufacturing and marketing business. Recognizing the worldwide opportunity in the dimensioning and weighing of parcels, the ExpressCube division of Global was established. A team of innovative designers and engineers utilizing 30 years of experience and proven technology created the ExpressCube DIM weighing solution that is now considered the most advanced countertop system in the world.

A Case Example

For Cardinal Couriers, a Mississauga, Ont. pre-8 a.m. delivery service, the more expensive laser systems were not viable options and neither was its previous Dim-Weight calculation process. Cardinal employees were placing each box on a scale, taking its dimensions and manually entering them into a computer. The process took 24 seconds and wasn't entirely accurate. Concerned about efficiency, cost and the potential for back charges, Cardinal switched to a more cost-effective semi-automatic cubing system from ExpressCube. "Our process time has dropped from 24 seconds to 10 seconds and it's very accurate, so we are gaining a huge amount of productivity," said Mike McCarthy, Cardinal's director of operations. "Our staff is processing more systems through the night and we're running 60 feet per minute." McCarthy said that such installations quickly pay for themselves through savings, accuracy and efficiency.

ExpressCube Counter Top Dimensioning Systems delivers the answer for maximizing slotting, pick and pack, cubing, dimensioning and weighing of packages. ExpressCube countertop cubing systems can help eliminate shipping penalty charges by letting shippers use their courier's dimensional weight factor (Dim factor) to accurately determine the shipping weight used to calculate their invoices. The ExpressCube products are precision devices that are quiet, utilize flexible interface communications and are highly adaptable to a wide variety of working environments. Our new patent-pending dimensional arrays are safe - there are no lasers used in any of our products. The key to this technology is a distributed microprocessor configuration that uses a combination of passive sensors and mathematical algorithms to quickly dimension boxes without moving parts or expensive laser technology. In addition to being relatively inexpensive, this approach provides a very robust device with very little maintenance required.

Three Different Models Available:

ExpressCube 150

Express Cube 150The ExpressCube 150 is a low cost dimensioning and weighing system solution for moderate volume shipping applications. Designed to fit on a 24" countertop, this unit will measure and weigh boxes with dimensions of 18"x24"x30" or a measuring grid of 7.5ft3 , and weigh up to 70 lbs. A low cost, reliable and user-friendly Dim solution, ExpressCube is designed to be set up and operating out of the box in 5 minutes. ExpressCube provides an instant determination of gross and dimensional weight. With the press of one key, a shipper can determine dimensional weight based on different. Dimensional Factors used by different carriers and postal services. Errors are eliminated and savings are immediate.

Multiple communication ports on the rear of ExpressCube provide data input and outputs for integration to the customer's computer, WMS systems, bar code readers and digital data displays. The ExpressCube 150 has no moving parts, providing low maintenance and increased reliability. ExpressCube is designed to be operating in less than 5 minutes from removal of its shipping box. Customer's anxieties will also not be raised, as there are no lasers used in this device or noisy ultrasonic.

ExpressCube 250

The ExpressCube 250 is a countertop dimensioning and weighing unit with an expanded dimensional measuring capability over the ExpressCube 150. Please click here for futher information concerning the Express Cube 250.

ExpressCube EC- 2448-CL-W2

The ExpressCube EC-2448-CL-W2 is a fast conveyor dimensioning unit that can individually scan*, dimension and weigh packages at a typical rate in excess of 500 packages per hour.

Applications with regional and national couriers

The technology had found value with regional and national couriers.

Regional Couriers use ExpressCube to recapture lost revenue without the large capital expense of high volume automated systems. The ability to recapture revenue from minimum dimensional weight has been out of reach for many regional carriers due to the high initial costs for dimensional weighing equipment. ExpressCube's semiautomatic dimensioning and weighing equipment is capable of processing over 500 packages an hour. Both NTEP and Measurement Canada approved, this equipment can be easily added to their conveyor systems with a minimum modification cost. ExpressCube also manufactures bench mounted dimensioning systems that can be used to measure manually handled packages quickly and efficiently. Both systems have durable electronic controls that can stand up to the rigors of a busy warehouse. All machines can be networked back to servers in the accounting office through an Ethernet LAN connection.

National Couriers can provide their corporate clients an ExpressCube 150 or ExpressCube 250 integrated with their PC shipping stations. ExpressCube can provide an economical dimensioning solution that will actually save your customers time and provide them with accurate shipping costs. Accurate shipping dimensions mean less bill adjustments, which in turn, result in happier customers. E-Commerce customers will find their order processing speed increases dramatically when they measure and ship their orders with the ExpressCube shipping station. Quantity discounts on ExpressCube systems bring customers this functionality at surprisingly low prices.

Further details on these products, associated accessories, software and systems integration services are available on our website. ExpressCube is interested in all opportunities worldwide and will respond promptly to requests for further information, pricing, quotes and distributor inquiries.

Marketing Manager

After graduating with honors in Electronics Technology, Lorne Hull worked for Bell Canada Engineering designing special products. During this tenure, Lorne was involved in police dispatch communications, the introduction of Enhanced 911 to Toronto and installing special communications devices at the Toronto Stock Exchange. His interests in innovative design opportunities led him to subsequently join successive companies developing sophisticated communications devices for the financial trading sector.

In 2004, Lorne was invited to lead the marketing and product development team for the ExpressCube product line. His original mission was to analyze market requirements and sales opportunities for the ExpressCube technology. Lorne quickly came to realise that ExpressCube has a significant and unique technological advantage that would fill a market void. The low cost reliable technology used by ExpressCube makes it ideal in solving significant economic and operational problems for logistics, warehouse and shipping room operations around the world.

As Marketing Manager, he defines and coordinates the manufacture of ExpressCube, initiates enhancements, new products and leads the market planning and sales efforts.

ExpressCube provides accurate dimension and weighing measurements in a device that does not require installation, is portable, requires no special training, and is very dependable. The ExpressCube product line utilises safe and highly reliable passive sensor technology coupled with state-of-the-art microprocessors to provide accurate measurements in an economical, safe and easy-to-use package. ExpressCube utilises a patented technology that uses passive components with highly sophisticated software to dimension and weigh parcels. It is safer and more reliable than laser-based technology.
