The Freight Forwarding software used by R W Freight Services to operate International Forwarding services includes flexible solutions to keep customers updated with consignment status information.

Colin Webb, Sales Director of R W Freight Services, explains how:

Actually moving the goods is often easier than ensuring that shipper and consignee can access status information in a way that suits them.

R W Freight offers two different methods; their customers can obtain information about the status of their shipments either by using the internet to access the information, or by an automatically-generated message sent by the system when a consignment reaches pre-determined statuses.

WebtrackWeb Track is an internet track and trace facility. Using a login-ID and password, users can track the progress of their consignments via a web interface.

With 'Webtrack', customers select their search criteria, and produce a list of their consignments which conform to these criteria. They are also able to see additional information which has been loaded by the Operations Department.


The Web Track system can output as either a webpage (HTML) or as a CSV file that can load directly into Microsoft Excel, provided that Excel is installed on your system.

While some clients value this level of detail, some are unlikely to have the time to make these interventions. For these customers, the system can automatically generate a message informing interested parties of the status of the consignment.

Having spent his entire working life in the freight forwarding industry, Colin has acquired a wealth of experience and knowledge which he brings to bear in his role as Sales Director of R W Freight Services Ltd.

He began his working career as a school-leaver with the established company Lep Transport (now Geologistics), where he gained expertise in documentation and transport arrangements for large shipments to the Middle East and the Indian Sub-continent. After seven years he moved to Key Account Management, being entirely responsible for the international transport requirements of some of Bow Forwarding’s most important customers.

It was here that he first became involved in Scandinavian consolidation, an area of knowledge in which he was later to develop a high level of expertise. After short period at International Express dealing with special traffics, he joined R W Freight where he has been a key member of the management team responsible for sales and customer development.
