The M8, the first of a new generation of truck-mounted forklifts to be manufactured by Moffett Engineering in Dundalk, has been launched in Ireland.

The machine with its distinctive rounded profile and lightweight corrosion resistant body, together with a host of design features, represents the ultimate in engineering expertise and follows a massive two year research and development programme worldwide.

During extreme tests on 15 prototypes sent to customers prior to the launch for use in conditions as varied as snow, ice, mud and dust, driver feedback confirmed that the M8 was “ the best truck-mounted forklift they had ever driven.”

The new M8 has focused on five key areas to make it the most advanced machine of its kind. There has been a major improvement in safety with a re-designed chassis that maximises lateral and longitudinal stability.

Driver comfort has been increased with a new ergonomically designed seat and a wider operator enclosure that ensures maximum visibility for the driver. Lever positions, pedal and steering facilities have also been improved.

A new Kubota 50HP diesel engine delivers lower noise levels, vibrations and emissions. Access to the engine, key hydraulic points and the removable hydraulic tank has also been improved for easier servicing.

As well as being better looking, the M8 will efficiently deliver what it was built for – the safe lifting and handling of a wide range of loads up to 3.5 tonnes.

Telescopic stabilisers offer improved ground clearance and efficiency on unpredictable surfaces, new refinements to the mast have ensured that chain stretch is minimised for improved durability and maintenance while the fork carriage has been re-engineered to provide extra clearance for wide loads.
State of the art hydraulic forward and reverse pedals for smoother operation are now standard,

Overall, the MOFFETT-KOOI M8 combines the expertise and know-how of nearly 40 years experience of truck-mounted forklifts and is already proving to be the machine which meets the modern needs of the worldwide transport and logistics industry.
