BQT Solutions is pleased to announce a new card-reader product line targeting the United States Federal Government market.
The PIV series readers are based on core technologies that have demonstrated FIPS-201 PIV compatibility. This standard was created to fulfill a presidential mandate that all U.S. agencies must have interoperable smart cards for physical and logical access.
With over 10 million government workers and contractors, tens of thousands of sites, and even larger number at the state and local level that may follow the federal lead, the potential market for smart card security equipment is very significant. There is also a deadline of October 2006 for all agencies to begin implementation of their compliance programs.
BQT Solutions is the only card reader vendor that can provide advanced encryption (including AES-256) between a biometric/card reader and the back end system. (see previous announcements on patent award).
This is a key security feature since it is the best practical method of preventing an electronic replay attack after the card has been read.
Our marketing message to the government agencies is "You feel good about card security, but is your reader secure? - specify BQT".
In addition to these advanced security features, other preliminary patent claims have been filed in the U.S. with the intent to expand our highly competitive technology base.
