Volume for a Crane
Crane SWL (Save Working Load):
25 t
Grab volume:
12m³ < 30°
Grab volume reduced (open kick- plates no. 1 + 2)
9m³ < 30°
Grab volume reduced (open kick- plates no. 1 – 4)
6m³ < 30°
Dead weight of the grab:
7.750 kg
Calculation:
(V * D) + W < SWL
V = Theoretical grab fill (m³)
D = Bulk density (t / m³)
W = Dead weight of the grab
1. Example:
(12 m³ * 1,3 t/m³) + 7,75 t = 23,35 t
Less then the SWL of the crane (25 t).
2. Example:
(12 m³ * 1,8 t/m³) + 7,75 t = 29,35 t
Load is over the SWL of the crane. The volume of the grab should be reduced to 9m³.
(open kick- plates no. 1 + 2 = reduce grab- volume to 9m³)
2.1. example (same bulk density, reduced volume):
(9 m³ * 1,8 t/m³) + 7,75 t = 23,95 t
Less than the SWL of the crane = start working with reduced grab volume of 9m³
