Verstegen philosophy
A grab is an important tool for rapid and efficient unloading. To ensure the highest possible capacity, the dead weight of the grab should be minimal. Also, each grab should be designed specifically for the materials it will handle and for the operating environment.
High capacities and low dead weights
In order to obtain the highest productive capacity, a grab should have the highest possible volume without unnecessary dead weight. This requires a good and tested design together with high quality materials. Each Verstegen grab is supplied with scales made from high tensile wear resistant steal in order to increase strength and minimise wear. Friction in the points of articulation is minimised by use of an excellent bearing system.
A different grab for each bulk material
Each material has specific properties and a grab must be adjusted to these properties. A grab that works perfectly in coal may struggle when handling iron ore.
Verstegen has developed a number of grab models, specifically designed for common bulk materials (coal, iron ore, phosphates, fertiliser, agribulk, ...). There are also customised solutions available for other bulk materials with different behaviour and properties.
